What do I appreciate? A cigar that is multi-dimensional, not just one that has no flvaor nuances or changes. I don't care for one that is just predominantly straight tobacco, or tastes like moldy hay. What do I hate? Cigars that are tar pits or have a chemical, metallic taste, etc. Spit it out!Here is how I would rank the factors:1. Flavor. I mark em off the list if they are tasteless or if they are bitter, etc. I love the chocolate and coffee nuances of many maduros.2. Price. Not by choice, but when you are on a fixed income you just can't afford $10 smokes every day. For a lot of us, given the economy, price does become a factor! I know many say that price should never factor in at all, but show me how you do that A pet peeve would be guys who would never try a $5 cigar, for instance. There ARE some good ones out there, trust me.3. Appearance/Construction. A person can be fooled on this one, of course. Some sticks that look horrible turn out to be a terrific smoke.4. Origin-I tend to stay away from most Dominicans, for instance, because they impress me as being one-dimensional. I look for Nicaraguans or at least a blend with Nic. Costa Rica cigars such as Vegas De Santiago are outstanding as well.5. Manufacturer. I'm pretty open. I don't care for the attitude of cigar snobs I ran in to early on with this pursuit telling me something along the lines of If you don't smoke Brand X, you ain't (fecal material). There's way too much of that kind of attitude out there! Makes you want to stay at home and smoke I also like samplers.6. Size and shape. Once I have found a blend I like, I love belicosos and torpedos, and the bigger ring gauges. I'm a rather portly gentleman and I think I look silly with a lancero!Thanks for the giveaway!

My ranking for tiynrg a new cigar1 Price. I'm less willing to spend big $ on an unknown2 Manufacturer. Boutiques win over big brands.3 Flavor. Fuller the better, medium if its good enough.4 Size. I like to sample Robustos first5 Appearance. It isn't everything but it can tell you a lot.6 Origin. Doesn't matter but good to know when aging etc.I'll try most anything once. Especially new manufacturer. I really enjoy a full bodied smoke with complex flavors. I prefer large ring gauges but buy small ones too.I'll try anything, especially at event with a company Rep there7
